MADRID, 1 Sep.

Paula Carballeira Cabana has been awarded the National Prize for Dramatic Literature, corresponding to the year 2023, for her work 'As alumnas' (Editorial Galaxia), proposed by the jury meeting on Friday, September 1. The prize, awarded by the Ministry of Culture and Sports, is endowed with 30,000 euros.

The jury has highlighted the work of the Galician author "for being a praise of teaching that teaches about doubt and debate," according to the Ministry. "For its dramatic values, the richness of nuances and for the recovery of a reference woman for Galician education, a symbol of the modern, egalitarian and transformative education proposed by the Second Republic," it adds.

Likewise, the jury wanted to highlight how "the author, through rigorous research, proposes to the public a text that pays homage to all teachers and to the model of a secular, free and advanced pedagogy."

The prize was awarded in its last edition to Josep Maria Miró Coromina, joining a long list of awardees, including Pablo Remón, Guillem Clua, Alberto Conejero, Yolanda García Serrano, Alfredo Sanzol, Juan Mayorga or Angélica Liddell, among others.
